DHSS Grateful for Generous Donation - Department of Health Press Release
Funds raised in memory of baby Alfie Cubbon-Fee have been donated to Tiny Tickers Charity by Alfie’s parents, Peter Cubbon and Kelley Fee, of Douglas.

Tiny Tickers volunteered the use of the funds to benefit families on the Isle of Man and have sponsored Dr Helen Miller, Associate Specialist for Obstetric Ultrasound, who visited the Island in March to offer advanced training to members of the Ultrasound Department at Noble’s Hospital. This particular training will equip staff to identify more life threatening heart defects in unborn babies than is currently possible.
Alfie died suddenly last year at the age of four weeks from what doctors later discovered was a congenital heart defect. In making this generous donation to Tiny Tickers, a charity which works towards improving early detection, diagnosis and care of babies with heart defects, Alfie’s parents would like to provide other babies with similar problems a better start in life. They would hope to prevent other families from suffering the heartache which they experienced.
Kelley Fee and Peter Cubbon, Alfie’s parents said:
" “We came across Tiny Tickers on the internet while searching for a cause relevant to what was wrong with Alfie. Once we knew we had raised a substantial amount we emailed the Charity asking them if they would be able to use any of the money on the Island. We were very glad when they said they would try to do this as at the time, although we wanted to give the money to something relevant to Alfie, we did also think it would be best for the money to be used on the Island. We did look at charities here but any charity to do with the heart was not aimed at babies. Tiny Tickers just seemed perfect for what we wanted and we liked how they were not a very big charity so they would appreciate (and have appreciated) and used the money wisely. We have also decided to give Alfie's clothes to Pahar Trust, these will be taken to Nepal over the Easter period and given to a new Orphanage in the area.”"
Mr Alan Crowe, Member for Health, said,
"“We are very grateful that Alfie’s family have, at such a very sad time, made such a magnanimous gesture. Their generosity will enable us to offer additional checks on unborn babies which will benefit other families in the years to come.” "
Over £3,400 has been raised to date to include: Donations in lieu of flowers, donation of £1,300 from Anglo Eastern Crew Management, $1,000 from Subsea 7 Norway, £500 from DOF (UK), £250 from Jack Frost. Friends and family arranged collections at their places of work, which included AXA, WH SMITH and Park Road School. More information about the Tiny Tickers Charity can be found at www.tinytickers.org
